The long-awaited return of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter AWD MWB L2H2 has finally arrived, and with the added craftsmanship of an SC Sporthomes conversion, it opens the door to a completely new level of adventure.
Compact enough for everyday driving yet engineered with the capability to venture far beyond the conventional touring route, the AWD Sprinter provides the perfect foundation for an SC conversion. Whether navigating winter roads, reaching remote race paddocks or simply heading off in search of somewhere new, its all-wheel-drive capability delivers additional confidence when the conditions become more challenging.
Inside, SC craftsmanship transforms the versatile L2H2 platform into a beautifully considered space where premium materials, intelligent storage and practical design work together. Every centimetre is carefully utilised to create a vehicle equally at home supporting a motorsport weekend as it is disappearing into the mountains for a few days away.
But the freedom doesn't stop when the road does.
With the addition of the Renogy 500Ah lithium power system, 5kW pure sine wave inverter and touchscreen monitoring system, the SC AWD can be specified as a fully standalone, off-grid vehicle. This substantial power upgrade creates a genuinely self-sufficient setup, capable of running the vehicle's onboard components without relying on an external power unit or traditional electrical hook-up.
For the owner, that means greater freedom to travel, stop and stay where the adventure takes them. From remote motorsport events and race paddocks to weekends away from campsites and conventional facilities, the vehicle has been designed around independence rather than compromise.

We have had a 46 year relationship with Mercedes Benz having had Service buses, Lorries, cars, vans and a Mercedes Atego 12 tonne based Motorhome and a LWB Mercedes Sprinter Campervan.
We took the decision to purchase a SC Sporthomes van conversion having previously been impressed with their product design and build quality. Having had larger vehicles we were determined to have a Medium Wheel Based model as our intention was to use the vehicle daily as well as for travel. There was never really a question in our mind about the base vehicle we were going to choose for this new build. The Sprinter 419 4X 4 AWD chassis has impressed us. The height of the vehicle from the road provides excellent vision all around the vehicle and makes it very easy to see and predict the actions of the traffic ahead. The suspension makes for an extremely smooth ride, we opted to have Bridgestone All terrain tyres fitted and there is absolutely no road noise regardless of whether on the motorway, urban driving or off the beaten track. The power delivery is very smooth and the vehicle is light to drive and is very confidence inspiring to the driver. SC Sporthomes conversion has included reupholstery of all the furniture and an extremely generous amount of cabinetry resulting in more storage than we have had in previous vehicles despite the limited length of the vehicle. We can honestly say that the driver and passenger seat when travelling in the vehicle are the most comfortable we have ever experienced and there are absolutely no rattles or discernible noises from the vehicle or SC Sporthomes conversion.
We opted to have the option to tow with the vehicle and this makes no difference to the vehicle performance at all and the handling remains as solid and predictable as it is without anything being towed.
The Mercedes 419 4x4 AWD is fitted with lots of luxury additions, many of which are provided through the Mercedes Pro Connect app. We are still exploring the full functionality of this but we have found it very intuitive, easy to access, the display is clear and requires minimal input from the user. The set up of the Pro Connect was very simple to achieve and there is a lot of access to instructions and manuals to help the user configure this to their own requirements. This has been very impressive.
The SC Sporthomes conversion has included a Renology electrical system with solar. We were determined to have air conditioning and the renology system has shown itself to be extremely capable. We were not expecting to be able to use the air conditioning and much of our electrically based catering equipment outside of electrical hook up at a campsite. The Renology is revolutionary in its operation. We can use an oven, coffee machine, microwave, the air conditioning and an electric saucepan without the need for electrical hook up which is an absolute game changer allowing complete off grid travel and self sufficiency.
We are very impressed with the vehicle and are extremely comfortable that our 46 year history will continue on, supported and enhanced by the Mercedes Benz technology and their dealerships throughout the world. This will be in partnership with support from SC Sporthomes staff who have proven themselves to be committed, engaged and patient in our quest to design the vehicle of our dreams, which we think they have achieved.
