Twin diesel heating units and an underfloor Dometic Sapphire air conditioning unit will keep you warm in Arctic conditions or cool in the Sahara and come complete with programmable controls more customisable than the average home! Her electrical system is managed by a Victron Energy Multi Plus Unit which automatically protects any hookup from overload, manages and protects the gel batteries and combines alternative power sources (Solar / Generator / Battery / Hook Up) into one source. The same unit is fitted to round the world yachts and has an exemplary record for performance and reliability.
Cooking in the spacious kitchen is a both swift and a pleasure with the Webasto Diesel Ceramic Hob and the enormous work top area. The 140 litre fridge keeps all your food fresh and the additional freezer section 45 litres is one of the largest available for motorhomes. The pull out larder, built in bin, dishwasher, herb rack and storage area for tea's and coffee's are just the finishing touches to a spectacular kitchen!
The lounge provides a large relaxing area to meet fellow travellers, so large the sofa doubles as a full size single bed, a pop up table to entertain guests on and a 22 inch TFT screen that magically rises from the dining table! This screen is backed by a stunning THX sound system and media library allowing you to watch the latest blockbuster as if you were at the local odeon! The screen rotates for the best view and is also connected via HDMI to the on board Intel Dual Core PC. It's wireless mouse, keyboard, built in web Cam and long range wi-fi antenna help you to stay in contact where ever you go and the system allows the connection of a data modem for places with no wifi reception. There's even a hub so you can easily plug in your camera to download photos to the PC.
Up front in the air conditioned cab, we have a 7” touch screen linked to GPS and the on board PC to provide Sat Nav wherever you go. The default software currently Destinator covers Europe, Russia, China, North America, some of the middle east and Brazil with more countries being added. For the less popular zones the GPS is fully compatible with alternative software such as Fugawi. Naturally enough the touchscreen doubles as reversing camera screen. The revolving seats and tasteful blinds make the cab area a real part of the living accommodation, whilst the view from the lounge through the cab windows is fantastic.
No sensible motorhomer should be leaving home without decent security, the double glazed glass windows have been Bandit proofed to make them extremely hard to break, the cab doors have internal deadlocks to make the impossible to open from outside and the main door has high security dual locks and a piano hinge with dead bolts in the frame. Essential to any high value motorhome is a good alarm and again the World Cruiser fits the bill. The alarm has the usual flashing LED's, sirens and sensors but is complemented by a quad band worldwide GPS tracking system with panic button – surely a first for any motorhome!
The sumptuous main bedroom is located above the bathroom and – another first for a motorhome - has a 6ft 4” wide bed on memory foam to make every night simply drift away. It has a worldwide reception TV for those rainy nights and also a cd and radio player! To make the bedroom even more romantic the panoramic skylight slides back to allow a magnificent view of the stars. What better way to end the day!
A well designed bathroom is essential - the shower cubicle with LED blue high and low level spot lighting and a fine mist spray shower head for water consupmtion, separate porcelain toilet, heated towel rail, ample workspace and clever use of wardrobe doors turn the bathroom into a private area worthy of any guest.
Of course having such space inside means the vehicle should be extremely long, but, rather appropriately as the van comes from Wales – the home of Doctor Who – SC Sporthomes have made the first TARDIS motorhome with the World Cruiser being a very manageable 7.8m. It is hard to believe that all these features could be found in such a short vehicle and even more surprising to find the inside feels so luxuriously spacious.
Externally the World Cruiser has elegant lines and understated artwork leaving an impression of class and sophistication. Underneath the body is insulated and covered in protective kick board to protect from stones and prying hands. The self levelling air suspension makes camping on inclines easy and makes navigating poor roads and boarding ferries a breeze. More surprises are in store with the rear Tandem locker which miraculously hides a full size tandem under the bathroom sink! To add to this SC Sporthomes have found room to store the Spare wheel internally and have even included internal storage for a spare tyre too! Not that you should need these as the tyres have been treated with a high quality puncture proofing. Not forgetting the built in digital safe, mini hoover, weather station and scanner/printer?
